The Suzhou City Walls

The Suzhou City Walls are over 500 years old. Unfotunately there is only a corner left...there are more around the city, but here (the most intact part) is just a portion. How would you stand up over 5 centuries?. There is just one block of wall that is set on the canal at the south-east side of the ancient city of Suzhou (the city centre where I live). They have made quite the park there, with walking paths, a children's playground, courtyards for some interesting croquet-like sport (we watched but couldn't figure out the rules) and an outdoor concert area.

It is the most green I've seen in Suzhou next to Suzhou park. It is beautiful.

We had a great walk through the park and saw the cutest thing.

Check out this kid and the ride she's on. It actually moves------the whole thing!!

It walks around in circles, so the kid feels (and looks) likes its being carried like the old Emperors were (here they get carried by a monkey and a pig). It even sings a song while it does it.
